“And now these three remain: faith, hope, and love. But the greatest of these is Love. ”
– 1 Cor 13:13.

– Hope

A Hymn of St. Columba開展。A Hymn of St. Columba是Benjamin Britten(1913-1976)所作的一首簡潔的聖詩。

Michelangelo, Giudizio Universale 02Michelangelo, The Last Judgement, 1541

King of kings and lords most high" 「萬王之王至高之主」波瀾壯闊的歌詞。

A Hymn of St. Columba

Regis regum rectissimi
prope est dies domini,
dies irae et vindictae,
tenebrarum et nebulae,
Regis regum rectissimi.

Diesque mirabilium
tonitruorum fortium,
dies quoque angustiae,
maeroris ac tristitiae.
Regis regum rectissimi.

In quo cessabit mulierum
amor et desiderium,
nominumque contentio
mundi hujus et cupido,
Regis regum rectissimi.

King of kings and of lords most high,
Comes his day of judgement nigh:
Day of wrath and vengeance stark,
Day of shadows and cloudy dark.
King of kings and of lords most high.

Thunder shall rend that day apart,
Wonder amaze each fearful heart.
Anguish and pain and deep distress
Shall mark that day of bitterness.
King of kings and of lords most high.

That day the pangs of lust will cease,
Man’s questing heart shall be at peace;
Then shall the great no more contend
And worldly fame be at an end.
King of kings and of lords most high.

Be Thou My Vision取自六世紀愛爾蘭詩人St. Dallán的作品。相傳St. Dallán雙目失明,由感而發寫出Be Thou My vision一題。St.

Be thou my vision

Be thou my vision, O Lord of my heart,
Be all else but naught to me, save that thou art;
Be thou my best thought in the day and the night,
Both waking and sleeping, thy presence my light.

Be thou my wisdom, be thou my true word;
Be thou ever with me, and I with thee Lord;
Be thou my great Father, and I thy true son;
Be thou in me dwelling, and I with thee one.

Be thou and thou only the first in my heart,
O Sovereign of heaven, my treasure thou art;
Great heart of my heart, whatever befall,
Still be thou my vision, O Ruler of all.

Morten Lauridsen(生於1943)為這首詩歌配上音樂。

Sure on This Shining Night

Sure on this shining night
Of star made shadows round,
Kindness must watch for me
This side the ground.

The late year lies down the north.
All is healed, all is health.
High summer holds the earth.
Hearts all whole.

Sure on this shining night I weep for wonder wand’ring far alone
Of shadows on the stars.
