Jules Bastien-Lepage, Joan of Arc Listening to the Voices, 1879
“And now these three remain: faith, hope, and love. But the greatest of these is Love. ”
– 1 Cor 13:13.
– Praise
Sing to the Lord a New Song是香港作曲家趙學文(生於1988)的作品。
Matthias Grunewald, Annunciation, Virgin and Child with Angels, and Resurrection, the Isenheim Altarpiece, opened, c. 1510-1515
Sing to the Lord a New Song
Sing to the Lord, a new song; sing to the Lord, all the earth.
Sing to the Lord, praise His name; proclaim His salvation day to day.For great is the Lord, great Lord, most worthy of praise,
He is to be feared above all gods,
but Lord, the Lord, made the heavens.
Declare His glory, His marvelous deeds among all men.
Sing alleluia.Say among the nations, “the Lord reigns”.
The world is firmly established, it cannot be moved.
He will judge the people, with equity.
Sing alleluia.Praise to the Lord a new song, praise to the Lord, all the earth.
Sing alleluia!Praise to the Lord!
Giovanni Bellini, Saint Francis in Ecstasy, c. 1485
Howard Hanson(1896-1981)的The One Hundred Fiftieth Psalm(詩篇第150篇)延續喜氣洋洋的景象。
Let everything that hath breath praise Him…",樂曲推向高峰,之後以極弱的Alleluia作結。
The One Hundred Fiftieth Psalm
Praise ye the Lord.
Praise God in His sanctuary:
praise Him in the firmament of His power.Praise Him for His mighty acts:
praise Him according to His excellent greatness.Praise Him with the sound of the trumpet:
praise Him with the psaltery and harp.
Praise Him with the timbrel and dance:
praise Him with stringed instruments and organs.
Praise Him upon the high sounding cymbals.Let everything that hath breath praise Him.
Alleluia.
Jan van Eyck, Ghent Altarpiece, c. 1432, Saint Bavo Cathedral, Ghent
音樂會以Eric Whitacre的i thank You God for this most amazing day作結。此曲是受北亞利桑拿大(The Northern Arizona University)慶祝一百周年所托而寫的作品Three Songs of Faith當中的最後一首。
i thank You God for this most amazing day
i thank You God for most this amazing
day: for the leaping greenly spirits of trees
and a blue true dream of sky; and for everything
which is natural which is infinite which is yes(i who have died am alive again today,
and this is the sun’s birthday; this is the birth
day of life and love and wings: and of the gay
great happening illimitably earth)how should tasting touching hearing seeing
breathing any-lifted from the no
of all nothing-human merely being
doubt unimaginable You?(now the ears of my ears awake and
now the eyes of my eyes are opened)
